gina graziano and the Miracle Workers present a “pop-u-luxe hootenanny”

Celebrate summer and the end of school with Americana Roots Rock from our own refinery town. This will be two shows in one! A Miracle Workers set featuring gina graziano’s original music plus a hoot set for local songwriters to celebrate the pop songs that inspired them to be musicians.

gina graziano grew up in Martinez but as soon ran away to Austin, Texas to join the honky tonk circus. She spent her twenties there as a journeyman songwriter among the greats. At times she played the classic role of opening act for the likes of Steve Earle, Kelly Willis, The Beat Farmers, Chris Isaak, Lucinda Williams and the LeRoi Brothers, …and at times she just rocked out in the front row learning from the likes of Albert Collins, Joe Ely, Web Wilder, and countless others…. But most of the time she logged many happy hours playing her songs to five Tipsy Texans.

After many lessons learned, gina moved back home to Martinez and has spent the last ten years as the music teacher for John Muir Elementary school, teaching hundreds of young Martizians and earning the Martinez teacher of the year award in 2007. Her new band, the Miracle Workers, was formed last spring for the “Save LaBeau’s” benefit. They play a mix of country and blues influenced rock. The Miracle Workers feature Martinez’s current teacher of the year, Alhambra/MJHS band director Julianne George, on bass. Plus Pop sensation (and music teacher) John Ashfield will play keyboards and gina’s guitarist/producer of twenty years, Brain Wahl will play lead guitar. The band is rounded out by Greg Travers, alumni of Pariah, on percussion.

If you have ever seen a “Hoot Set” you know anything could happen!

Other Guest artists include Chris Xefos! Greg Dale! Hope Savage!  Andy Mason! Plus a special appearance by the fabulous Leigh Crow of the Mighty Slim Pickins and Whoa Nellies!

We have wonderful artists from around the bay area to coming out celebrate the pop songs that inspired them!
